Exams and academics
Before printing report cards, review the marks workflow
A report card is the final output of several earlier decisions: which exam was selected, how assessment columns were configured, what marks were entered and how absences were recorded. Reviewing those decisions first makes the final print review more useful.
Confirm the context before entering marks
Check the academic session, exam, class, section and subject on the screen. Confirm that the student list is the one the teacher expects to assess. A correct number entered against the wrong exam or student is still an incorrect record.
Review the configured assessment names and maximum marks before data entry begins. Staff should use the school's actual assessment scheme rather than assume every column has the same limit.
Make percentage contributions explicit
When marks from an existing exam contribute to another assessment, write down the calculation before applying it. In Shikshaware's supported CBSE population workflow, the contribution is the source exam total multiplied by the selected percentage and divided by 100. For example, 80 marks at 10% contributes 8 marks.
That is a raw contribution, not a rescaling to the destination maximum. Choose the destination column and source exam carefully, review skipped students and limits, and inspect the editable result before saving.
Check absences and corrections
An absence should be reviewed as an attendance decision, not treated as interchangeable with an ordinary zero mark. Include an absent student in the review sample, and confirm the permitted treatment in the school's assessment policy.
After a correction, check the saved record as well as the visible input. If another user has changed a record or the page is no longer current, reload the latest data before continuing.
Print a small review sample first
Check names, subjects, exam/session labels, totals, grades and the selected report-card format. Review a standard result, an absence and a corrected mark before printing the full batch.
For applicable Shikshaware report-card templates, the practical/oral column can be shown or hidden. Hiding that display column does not remove existing practical marks from the calculated student total. Confirm the school's intended presentation before issuing results.
